Now she wants to take a paternity test?

My husband just got served today with court paper to show up at court for a child support hearing. 12 years ago he slpet with this girl and said she was pregnant, btu would never take a paterniy test. My husbands parents were goign to pay for it at the time. She refused and she went on he way, well 12 years later she is back and wants a paternity test. My question is who has to pay for this test and what are the laws for this in Georgia.

Re: Now she wants to take a paternity test?

Usually, the moving party pays for such tests, in this case, the mother. I'm not sure I understand the second part of your question. If you would like to discuss any issues further, please feel free to contact my office. My contact information is below. Thank you.

Re: Now she wants to take a paternity test?

I don't think there is a hard and fast rule on who pays. In most cases, the wife, who has to establish paternity, pays for it, to be reimbursed by the husband if he's the father. However, your husband should get a court order to this effect. He should contact a local attorney, since so much is at stake.
