Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
permanent guardianship
We were awarded permanent guardianship ofour 3 grandchildren (not my bilogical) but my husbands. The oldest now 17 has stayed with his Aunt for 6 months due to family friction and him calling police etc. We felt it would be good for him to see the grass is not always greener. Now he wants to come back home and when my husband went to pick him up his daughter called the police and they told my husband he could not take him as the temporary guardianship is good for 1 year. Do we ahve any recourse. We are in the process of adoptinging them (which we thought was done years ago through child services) can we get him home and do we have to drop him from the adoption process now?
Thanks

Re: permanent guardianship
I know of no way you could be adopting a child that is not in your physical custody so your post makes no sense (it seems unlikely that a lawyer would suggest an adoption of a 17 year old anyway because at age 18 the adoption of an adult statute is far easier and cheaper).
Since adoptions are almost impossible without a lawyer, you presumably have one, and you need to ask your questions to the person you have paid to advise you. He may also understand your frankly impossible to understand question, as he presumably knows the important facts that you must have omitted here.
