pre-divorce separation

after the papers have been served and filed legally can you date or see another before the divorce or is it considered adultery?

It's not an issue of adultery. However it is very likely to complicate a divorce.

Adultery by definition means sexual intercourse and is a crime. So, no sex, no adultery. But don't bet that the other side won't try to make it something it is not, even if there is no sex.
