Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I am the primary custodial parent of my son. My ex husband has agreed to take custody because my son is disabled and I have recently undergone medical treatment that disables my ability to care for him. I live in Ga he lives in Ohio and he already has my son with him. However he cannot enroll him in school until custody gets signed over and that could take months. What can we do?
