Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Hello, I am a primary custodian parent for triplets (boy and 2 girls). My ex husband plans to take kids for a car trip for 3 weeks(during his vacation time with kids) to different states and he plans to do it by himself without any help. I am against this trip because it might be potentially dangerous to be on the road with kids. Am I allowed legally to prevent this trip ?

Thank you

Probably not. People drive with children all the time, so absent something you did not post, a judge would see your position as unwarranted. The answer lies in your divorce papers and parenting plan. Unless that document prevents his travel, he can and you could be found in contempt if you prevent it.

I agree with Mr. Ashman. I assume the divorce document provides your ex husband 3 consecutive weeks for vacation. I assume it sets forth a notification provision which appears has been complied with. I assume you are asking if you have the right because you have the right to make final decisions on major issues. I do not believe this would be considered a major issue. If you were concerned about out of state travel, provisions should have been put in the agreement. If you feel you have a valid reason for preventing the trip which was not posted, I suggest you take your paperwork to your attorney and confirm your concerns are valid prior to placing yourself in contempt.
