Private Investigator

I would like to get a private investigator to obtain evidence against my ex in ref to child custody. He currently has custody but is leaving my child unsupervised, abusing drugs, and he has his girlfriend of 2 weeks moved in with him with her kids in his house. Our previous divorce decree states no overnight guests of opposite sex. What evidence is best to get to present to the court that will be taken into consideration. What do I have to prove to show him as an unfit parent.
