Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

We received a phone call last week from our sons (age 28 Now) ex-wife current husband, & he told us that he was getting ready to have our son locked by the local sheriff because he was behind on his mortgage payment by 60 days & that his wife (My sons Ex-wife) Name is still on the mortgage loan & that it was hurting her credit now & she is getting call from the mortgage company. He told us that our sons was told to get her name off the mortgage in the divorce papers, He told us that our son has 30 day to get her name off the mortgage or they are going to have him held in contempt of court. My question to you is this something that can happen, our son has tried to refinance the home but doesnt quilifity & we currently have the home up for sell. What is our options & what can we do to stop the husband from calling ups & telling us he is going to have our son arrested.

Your options are none, perhaps except to tell the current husband to stop calling you about it because it is not your issue. This is your 28 year old son's issue. He can call his lawyer. No one here knows what court orders and agreements are in place.

Your son needs to be proactive and discuss his issues with a lawyer. The lawyer can review the order to determine what to do next. One possible solution is to return to court to modify the order.
