Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
I have recently received an order from our divorce judge
to pay my ex wifes attorney -
for her fee at a child support hearing back in August.
I am unable to pay the full $1400 right now.
I would like to pay 40-50 dollars per month which is affordable for me right now.
Should I just send the $40 or $50 by check in the mail as first payment
Or call her attorney to request this payment plan from her attorney?
I am in a tight situation right now I want to pay this off though?
What would you suggest? If held in contempt how does the process work ?
Each step and timeframe attorney can come after me with teeth?
Please advise thnx.

If you just send in $40-50 the result may be contempt, jail and more fees you owe. If you want to come to an agreement, contact the lawyer. Otherwise, you take your chances.
I am surprised the order did not provide a time frame to make the payment. If you are unable to pay the full amount, you will need to work something out with the attorney. I doubt if he or she will accept $40 to $50 but that is up to the attorney. Many attorneys accept payment by credit card. Perhaps you could pay by that means or have a relative use their credit card and you make your monthly payments to them. If you don't work something out and don't follow the terms of the order, you are in contempt.
