Recently served divorce papers. Can I postpone 30 day response time, to get money for lawyer together?

Hire lawyer and he can get you extra time (maybe do a payment plan so you do not miss deadlines and can get started sooner, as we do in our Firm)

There is no default in divorce, but you need to try to get the answer timely filed. I suggest you try to locate an attorney who will work with you on payments, or perhaps accepts payment by credit card.
