Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
refusing to testify if supoena served
My friends are divorcing; I have knowledge of the circumstances that led to this divorce. The husband of this couple has told me his Lawyer plans on serving me a subpoena to share what I know in Court. Can I show up at Court, and refuse to testify? If I do this, what are the possible consequences? Thank you in advance for yor help with this matter.

You can refuse to testify, and the Judge will likely be more than happy to explain the consequences. Sitting in jail until you change your mind is a common outcome.

If you refuse to testify, expect a high liklihod of going to jail for contempt.
