residency requirements for divorce in georgia

my question is i want to file for divorce and i concider myself a resident of georgia but because of a family illness i left georgia for a few months to help out my family member in new york and obtained a drivers liscence and a job for the few months i was there but upon returning to georgia wanted to get my divorce but saw that you had to be a resident of georgia for 6 months prior to filing for divorce and i havent been back 6 months yet what i want to know is do i have to wait 6 months or am i still concidered a resident of georgia eventhough i was out of state for a few months or do i have to wait and get a georgia liscence and wait 6 months to file. i want out A.S.A.P. please help

We'd have to sit down with you and ask you more to answer your question (if you make an appointment we can determine this). If your spouse lives in Georgia, the answer may not matter. While a driver's license and job are one indicia of residence, they alone don't answer the question.

This is a tricky question. As you know, the law of GA requires that you must be a GA resident for at least 6 months before you can file. You should consult with a local attorney.
