Restraining order?

My wife has an ex with whom we've tried to cut off all ties. He has been told on my occasions to stop trying to contact her and tell her how much he loves her. We moved to another state and changed all our phone numbers. He's still manged to track us down and write letters and leave messages on the machine. Every time he does, it causes my wife to freak out. Is there any legal recourse we have to make him leave us alone?

Consult with a local attorney. Your wife may be able to get a restraining order and/or a family violence (stalking) order.
