Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Rules of Procedure Contempt

i am representing myself I took my ex husband back to court for 2 counts of contempt concerning the fact that he has not paid me the full amount in lump sum alimony ordered by the Judge in our Final Decree of Divorce nor has he paid any of the costs for out of pocket medical costs that he was ordered to pay by the Judge in the Temporary hearing prior to the Final Decree being issued. When we got to court he showed with an attorney and the attorney requested to speak with me in the hallway, he stated that his client was willing to pay reduced amount of 500 i declined then he offered another reduced amount of 1000 i declined once again, he then stated that the case would have to be taken up in mediation and that he would go back into the courtroom and let the Judge know. I, not knowing the law or my rights thought that I had no other alternative and l left. That was 4 weeks ago and I have heard nothing from anyone about mediation or anything. Please tell me what motion I need to file to forget mediation and get my ex back into court

The answer to your question depends on the disposition of your case. The court may have dismissed it due to the fact that you were not present throughout the proceeding. You should hire an attorney to assist you.

Check with clerk's office to see if your case is still active (pending), if so, send them a letter asking that it be rescheduled. If it has been dismissed, file a motion to have it reinstated. BEST ADVICE: consult with a lawyer.
