Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Seeking full custody while getting a divorce

MY husband makes over 100k a year and hides his money. I left him because of frequent infidelity and adultery. We have 1 infant. I need to find a prominent lawyer willing to do pro-bono. My husband currently lives in FL at his ex's apt with her and their 3 kids. When not there, he is in North FL at the other ex's house with his one child. He has been supporting both financially. I have my son and there have been abandonment issues as well as us having different residences over the past year. He is refusing to pay court ordered child support and we haven't had med. insurance since my son was 5 months. He is a canadian citizen being paid corp. to corp. on a monthly basis. He has threatened me with taking my son over the canadian border and disappearing if I go through the courts and filing for support with a lawyer along with a divorce. I want full custody. What can I do make sure my son is taken care of as well as myself since I have been a stay at home mother since we have been married? We were married in GA but I am temporarily residing in NY with my mother while he is still in FL. Thanks.

Re: Seeking full custody while getting a divorce

You should consult with a local attorney. Since you are only temporarily residing in NY, and if your main residence is in GA, you may be able to get jurisdiction over him in GA.

Further details - specifically, the elgnth of your residence here and how long you intend to stay - are needed to determine whether NY even has jurisdiction. You do need to consult with an attorney as soon as possible. You may be able to get an order directing your husband to pay your legal fees. Feel free to call my office to schedule an appointment.
