Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

settlement of marital debt

I was married in MI and Divorced in GA 7 yrs later. I was ordered to pay half of her student loan and a credit card. total of $11000. I never paid anything due to financial difficulty at first and later forgot. She called this week and offered to exonorate all ordered debt and sign a document to that fact if I can give her $5000 now. I wasnt to do this. what type of document do I need and will it keep her from asking for the debt again?

Contact an attorney in the county where the divorce was granted. He/she will know what document will give you protection in the eyes of local judges.
