settlement for personal property

Ex-mother in-law, is threating sueing me for money she paid to an institution for the vehicle I currently drive. She paid this for my ex-husband prior to divorce and he also signed title over to me. Does she have grounds?

I doubt she has a case. Her payments would probably be viewed as a gift.
