Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I am a single man. I supposively had a child by my at the time girl friend. I signed the birth certificate. Then later I was aware that the child was not mine after I took an in home DNA test. How do I go about removing my name from the child's birth certificate?

This is not a simple process. It is far easier to assume paternity than to deny it. You will need a lawyer and will have to file suit. Note that courts will not accept in-home DNA tests, which are often inaccurate, and you'll need to do a test at an appropriate lab.

If you want to amend a birth certificate you would have to file a Petition and serve the proper parties. It is not simple. An in-home test is not recognized by courts due to it being inaccurate. A DNA test should be done through a recognized Lab. I suggest you speak with an attorney who can discuss your options.
