Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Sister Won't Disclose Father's Location

I reside in CA, my sister in GA. Personal conflicts recently led me to sever ties with her. During our conflict she relocated our father from one nursing home to another. I was aware she was planning to move him. However, to spite me, she now refuses to tell me where he is.

I have no criminal background, don't do drugs. I love my father, he loves me. He's showing early signs of dementia and has Parkinson's. So he is at her mercy. For the record, I don't think she's hurting him physically. But I am equally certain he doesn't know what she's doing. He'd be furious if he did.

What are my options?

Well, it ain't gonna be cheap. You can file a petition in Probate Court in the county of his residence to be appointed Guardian. Don't try this by yourself. Consult with a local attorney in the county in question. If you would like to discuss, feel free to give me a call.
