Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
My sister lives in California, I live in Georgia. My sister was recently incarcerated, she will probably not be released for at least a year or so (?). She would like me to bring her children to live with me. The father is also incarcerated for the next 8 years. My sister currently has full custody of the children. Due to travel expenses as well as increased financial burden of caring for these children, I will not be able to hire an attorney. What are my options? How do I obtain emergency guardianship and how long will the process take? Any information is greatly appreciated.

If you plan to transport children across state lines and get a proper guardianship, you cannot afford not to get counsel. To be honest, and I hate to say it, but if transporting the children and hiring a lawyer are beyond your means, you likely lack the means to be a guardian.
