Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

So I have a sixteen year old child who is very independent. He also has been in trouble before with the law but has since been free from the law with his records expunged. But, now he would like to move out of the house who would like to move out his seventeenth birthday. Now as me being a mother, I'm a little hesitant. But he continually says that "Its legal in the state of georgia as long your parents consent". What does that mean? If I say ok, he's allowed to leave? Or can he just leave even if I don't say ok? I wouldn't press runaway charges on him, but if he left and didn't, would he be a runaway? I would just like to ask what is all involved with letting your seventeen year old leave the house legally in the state of georgia.

The short answer - you're responsible for him until age 18 and there could be serious (bad) consequences if you let him move out.
