Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
I am a soldier in the U.S Army currently stationed in Fort Drum, NY. I was married on FEB192010 in Georgia. I am attempting to file an uncontested divorce. Divorce law in NY states that I cannot do an uncontested or "irreconcilable differences" divorce, however GA does allow it. The problem arises that I and my wife printed and filled out divorce paperwork from the website the GA county clerk gave to us however we did not sign and notarize said paperwork (Petition for Separation and Petition for Divorce) and I am now in GA on leave while she is in NY.
Should I attempt to file the divorce in NY since we will both be there shortly, or is there a way to have these papers legally signed and notarized with us being in different states?

Doing a divorce with forms is often a disaster. I can't tell from your post if you remain eligible to file in Georgia. Contact me with more information. We may be able to help you file inexpensively if you are eligible to file here.
There is no such thing as a petition for separation and divorce. Georgia does not have legal separations. Georgia does not have irreconcilable differences. We have irretrievably broken.
