At this time he is NOT the legal father but must pay child support for 18+ years. Should he want to become the legal father, he must get a lawyer, file a petition to legitimate in the county where the mother lives, and in that case he can seek rights to see the child (or custody) and will be ordered to pay support. He could have started this as early as November 25. Have him sit down with a lawyer Monday and get started. The sooner he starts, the sooner he can see his child.
