Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My son's father recent;y passed away February 14, 2016 in a car accident, We were expecting another child in May. Our son will be 3 in April, we planned on having his last name changed to Murphy like his fathers when our baby girl was born because she as well would be taking his last name. Now that he has passes away is that still possible??
