Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Can a spouse sue his/her spouse in Georgia?

A 58-year old bright, intelligent pysically sick woman is in a county nursing home. Her husband refuses to contribute financially to her care. She wants to be in a private nursing home. She wants a divorce to force him to hand over some money. I say that he will hide his money when the divorce paper is presented. Plus, with divorce she will only get half of what isn't ''hidden'' and no life insurance when he dies. I wondered if she could sue him now while they are married if she could get more money. She doesn't think this can be done....especially in the state of Georgia. I am from another state, so I don't know what goes on here in Georgia. This is digusting that he (they) owns two beautiful homes, has a federal pension, a salary and savings and won't use ''their'' money to get his wife out of this horrible county home where she must reside with mentally ill people who wander into her room while he drives around back and forth to these houses and acts like nothing is wrong. I want to help her find legal counsel.
