Re: Start proceedings

The legal fees do not depend on income. They depend on whether you have children, whether you have joint debts and assets, whether you own a home, and what county the parties are in. Court costs usually range from %80-$87.50 and legal fees, depending on the above facts, start at under $100. Call my office and if you're in a county where I practice I can give you a quote.

Re: Start proceedings

Although an uncontested divorce is more affordable than one involving points of controversy, please do not sell yourself short because you are concerned that you can not afford representation. Once a final decree is issued, the only way to modify it is through additional legal proceedings. Therefore, it is always wise to consider whether you need to invest in asking an attorney to negotiate the property, custody and support issues, so that your fresh start will be comfortable and fair.
