Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

which state do I file for divorce?

I fled an abusive husband in Georgia, I currently reside with family in Illinois. Which state do I file a complaint of divorce?

Secondly, I do not have an exact location (address) of where he is, he left me only part of my belongings and moved from Atlanta to Savannah, how would an attorney handle this? (I only have a cell number)

Re: which state do I file for divorce?

Divorces in Georgia are filed in county of defendant. There are a couple of exceptions, I don't believe that they would apply to you. You might contact Georgia Legal Services to see if they could help you.
