Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Stepchild Adoption

I've been raising my stepson since he was 4 years old. He is now 12. I would to adopt him. My wife is fully supporting me on this. All we know is the biological father in Cincinnati, OH. He has never provided child support, never calls, no contact whatsoever. I can't afford the $2,000 up front fee that I was quoted right now. Can we do this on own? If so, how? Or is it best to hire an attorney?

Re: Stepchild Adoption

An adoption is far too technical to do without a lawyer.

However it may be somewhat more affordable than you think Call my office to get a quote on costs.

Definitely hire a lawyer. The consequences of a lay person not crossing all the T's and dotting all the I's could be terrible. Call around; many attorneys have fixed fees and can tell you on the phone.
