what steps do I need to take to stop the adoption of my granddaughter. She is 14 days old. my son wants her. He is in the army and in korea. He is not married to the mother

You cannot take any steps (grandparents cannot intervene).
Your son is the only one who MAY have that ability. To even have the right to challenge an adoption, he HAS to file a legitimization in a timely fashion, and then can attempt to intervene. Unless he has been paying support and has been visiting the child, he will be unlikely to succeed.
He needs to immediately retain counsel, as the deadlines are very short.
