Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I'm Stuck

I filled for a divorce from my ex husband in '02. He never sent the papers back to me and he moved so I couldn't find him. The people handeling my case told me it would be an additional $350 to file again. I couldn't afford it then and I can't afford it now. I want to be free of my ex. Is there any way that I could get a divorce that wouldn't strip my wallet? There are no children and we have been seperated since oct. 2000. And I would like to go back to my maiden name. is that possible now.

Yes, but it would be better to pay a lawyer to do the paperwork. You are going to need a divorce by publication now. This means that since you do not know his address the court will require you to publish a notice in the newspaper that you are seeking a divorce. There really is not a cheap way to do this.
