Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
I have been subpoena for court by the defendant who I don't personally know. This is a divorce proceeding and I don't have time to take off work to attend. However, the defendant intent is to be malicous toward the plantiff who I'm friends with. What are my options if I can't attend.

Your choices are to attend or to defy a judge, be found in contempt, and serve (usually) up to 20 days in jail plus fines. Be sure to tell the judge "I don't have time" as that will net you the longest sentence.
