Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Summons For Continuing Garnishment

My Ex-Husband has filed a summons for Continuing Garnishment for money I allegedly owe him for Back Taxes that we incurred as a couple. It does not appear that he has sent the summons to my Company, however, it states in the summons that the Garnishee is required to file an answer no later than 45 days. The amount that he claims I owe him is not correct. How do I proceed?

Re: Summons For Continuing Garnishment

No one here has the documents and other relevant facts, but a garnishment means a judgment has been entered. You don't say whether the alleged error is with the amount you actually owe, or just not consistent with the judgment. The time to dispute the validity or amount of debt would have been in the lawsuit, before the judgment was entered. Otherwise, it is generally too late.
