Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
support through school?
10 years married, 3 kids, hubby
decided he doesn't want to be
married anymore. I had a great
paying job but with his complete
support I left for a teacher's asst. job
with school system so I could be with
the kids during holidays and
summers. This was BEFORE he
dropped the bomb. Now he is telling
me I have to get a better paying job
so we can get a divorce. I have the
option to go back to school for 1.5
years and get certified to teach. This
would be best for me & the kids
should I end up a single mom. Can I
force him to support me through this
since the divorce is his choice? If he
had told me his feelings before I
changed jobs - I feel at least I would
be able to support myself. Now I am
faced with an unwanted divorce and
to get another job - all because he
wants out. If it matters any - I
believe he is having an affair. He
denies it but my gut says he is. Any
advice?

Re: support through school?
Get a lawyer immediately. You have potential alimony claims, as well as child support and property issues that are far too complex to analyze without a lengthy and detailed consultation. Do not make any decisions without legal advice.

There are several issues involved. You should not attempt to resolve these by yourself without at least consulting with a local attorney. There is too much at stake and you could easily not follow proper legal procedures.
