Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

temp custody or guardianship

My grandson is 12 years old and has been with me since May. His mother has no place to live. We have tried calling her to get the important papers for him to start to school and she keeps putting me off as if she just does not care. What do i need to do to get temp custody or guardianship of him ? And what does it cost ? I live on a very tight fixed income.

Re: temp custody or guardianship

You should consult with a local attorney about either adopting the child or being appointed as guardian. Call around ask about fees. Also, check with the court in your county. Some courts will appoint and attorney to help.
