Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Temporary Order by consent
I have now filed for divorce for 12 months..we have a temporary order by consent.which my lawyer said would help me prove he had enough income to pay what I requested in child support..but now he wont sign a final aggreement.and my lawyer says his lawyer is considering dropping my husband as a client..which will set me back as far as starting over..this will end up costing me around 8000.00..Is there anyway to help speed it up if he does not want it..how long can a temporary order last..and while under a temporary order by consent..can I move on..date .have a life..I have been stuck in his limbo for over a year it feels like he holds all the cards .he can just keep refusing to sign a final forever and my Divorce will never end..can he do that..
thank you very much.,

Unfortunately, you are going to need to consult with another local attorney. Maybe he/she can recoup some of your legal fees. Good luck.

You don't mention the county, and some are slower than others but a year or two is not uncommon in a contested divorce. Any good lawyer will have explained the steps and time frame to you and can give you an estimate of how long it will take to get a case to trial.
Your spouse doesn't have to sign anything. That makes it take longer and eventually results in a trial.
