Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

termination of adoptive parents rights

The biological mom is wanting to terminate the adoptive parents right to the child. The adoptive parent is in agreement since they were never married and no longer reside together. What does she have to do?

Can it be done through a mediator so the cost is not so prohibitive since both parties are in agreement.

Re: termination of adoptive parents rights

If the parent voluntarliy gives up parental rights in an adoption it is not real difficult buty to difficult to do yourself. You need guidance from an attorney that specializes in adoption. Are all parties in the same state? What State? The bio mom probably cannot terminate rights of the adoptive father who is now the legal father unless another father is stepping in to adopt the child. The state considers the childs right to support and will not allow a termination that will relieve a legal father of support without someone else taking over the responsibility
