Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

A TPO was filed in Walker County GA and the person who filed it did not show up in court. The hearing was postponed after the clerk called her. She's swearing that she's not going to show up for the next court date either, shouldn't the case be dropped since it's obviously not that important to her? Can't she be in trouble for wasting the courts time? Why did the clerk call her instead of dropping the case?

You should not show up to the TPO without a lawyer on your side. If you can't afford a lawyer, let the process take its course. If she doesn't show, ask the JUDGE to dismiss the TPO. Explain to the judge that this is the second no-show. She likely won't be in trouble for wasting the court's time, but at some point the court will stop giving her opportunities to show up and drop the matter. Again, get a lawyer ASAP.

Best of luck.*****The above is for informational purposes and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*****
