Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
How much would an uncontested stepparent adoption cost in Georgia? My husbands ex wants him to sign over his rights for adoption, but she wants to file the case pro se. We would rather hire an attorney to handle the adoption so that we know it is being handled correctly. The adoption would be filed in Hall County. I was told that a Home Study is not required but I am not sure if that is correct.

The expense is a question for the lawyers you speak with in your area who handle adoptions, not a website like this (though lawyers might tell you a range they might charge) Make some calls to lawyers tomorrow to discuss.
Each lawyer sets his or her own fees. So you need to call lawyers. On the low end you likely will get quotes about $1500. But make sure that quote comes from a lawyer familiar with adoptions.
Pro se adoptions have an almost zero percent chance of success. Adoption law is so specialized and technical that a majority of lawyers can't do one, so make sure you call someone with experience.
Most counties require home studies. A few waive them in some stepparent adoptions. Even those that might do that would likely require one in a pro se case.
