Re: Visitation

Sir. Your ex-wife has joint custody of your son, so she can insist that he appears at the appointed hour. If you in any way try to defeat that, she could take you to court and have you cited, and even jailed, for contempt. The question of the 15-year old is tougher in a way. She has sole custody, so you have no right to insist she comes. But, in reality, it is hard to force a teenager to do anything, and child welfare authorities completely lose interest if that's all that's involved. I would not even consider retaliating against her. Consider ways to repair the bond with your daughter. Maybe try to talk to her on the phone if that is not contrary to your decree. See if you can get this thing more informal. It is getting too late for feuds over the daughter, and both parents must resist the temptation to make the younger son any kind of pawn in the game. I hope for the best for you in working it out.
