Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

wanting to married a divorced man with child support payments

I am a single female who is marrying a divorced man with a 13 yr old son. My fiance regularly makes his child support payments since his divorce in Georgia, 4 yrs ago. His ex has remarried. I make 2 times the income of my fiance, have significant savings and own my own home. My fiance also owns his own home. Upon our marriage can I legally be responsible for his child support? If I sell my home after we marry, can that money be touched? Can his payments increase due to our union. How can we prevent this prior to marriage?

Re: wanting to married a divorced man with child support payments

You can not be held legally responsible for his child support payments. Also, the money from the house is yours since it is not marital property. However, there is a slight chance that by substantially increasing his means of support through the union that the child support payments may increase, but it is not likely.
