Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Can my wife get alimony? We have been married for 6 years nothing is in my name except my truck.
We have a thirty two foot camper and a new heat pump financed through the same instatution.
She gets a disabilty check in the amount of 600 dollars a month. I agreed to give her 700 a month and she can keep everything else. All I want is my truck and things I brought with me.

Alimony is money payment to the other spouse once the marriage is over. Both husband and wife can claim alimony. Alimony has nothing to do with your truck, the camper, the heat pump, and "everything else" you brought with you. The parties to a divorce can agree on division of marital assets (cars, jewelry, camper, cash money) as well as future alimony payments. Or, if the parties can't agree, the parties can go to Court and ask the Court to divide the marital assets and order alimony. I strongly recommend that you hire a Georgia family law attorney to represent you through your divorce.
