Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Ex wife trying to ruin me

My ex wife and I divorced a few years ago, she left me for another man. we did not have an attorny (stupid I know) She did all the paperwork herself and after several attempt, we compromised. settlement agreement states that we have joint custody but she has final say in everything and i have visitation every other weekend and I pay a certain amount for child support (which she said she didnt want but had to have something there). since then my job schedule changed I work 4 days and off 4 and have the kids on my off days. it has been like this for a couple of years. She remarried after the divorce and all was fine until I met someone. now she wants me to start paying and pay all back support. she is also talking about moving out of state and if she doesn't then i can only see my kids every other weekend which will be on some of my workdays. I only want what is best for my kids. i dont ant to use them as leverage. But since she left me all the bills behind (including the house that is half hers but 100% my financial responsabilty)I will be forced into bankruptcy. Like I said all was fine until I started to move on with my life. Is there anything i can do legally without getting the kids involved, they have suffered enough.

Re: Ex wife trying to ruin me

I am only going to comment on one part of your post. You owe all the back support. It cannot be discharged in bankruptcy. You cannot, by mutual agreement, disregard a court order as you chose to do, and the past amounts cannot be changed. So find a way to get caught up.

As for the remainder of your post, you didn't really ask a question, so it's hard to address because you didn't and because we'd have to read the language. Being in arrears in support will work against you dealing with custody and visitation issues.
