Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

my wife's ex-husband gave up paternal rights to their infant child. I married my wife and adopted the child. The ex never even lived with the child and the child does not know him. We have lived as a happy family for the past five years and now my wife's ex's parents are seeking visitation. This would be very confusing to our happy child who already has loving grandparents. How could a court take away our rights as 2 fit parents living with the child and give these people visitation?

Unless you are misstating something, they cannot, as an adoption terminated their relationship to the child.

When you say seeking, you are unclear. If you mean they SAID something, ignore it. You don't have a case to respond to nor a worry. If they FILED a court case, you need counsel.

The one person who is best equipped to answer is the lawyer than did the adoption. You should be calling him right away. You will not find an answer online as none of us have seen your sealed adoption file.
