Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Can a writ of mandamus be filed against an individual to compel them to continue

My divorce has been in the courts for 14 months, and on the judges desk for a signature for 2 months. My husband has since stopped paying alimony. Is this writ an immediate order?

Generally an Order is retroactive to the day the judge decided it, so if the issue was decided 14 months ago, your husband should be obligated by the terms even if it is not signed yet. However, you need to find out from your lawyer why the order has not been signed. 14 months is very unusual.
