Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

My 15 year old son's school clinic called to tell me he was feeling weak and nauseous, but did not have a temp. His heart's rpm was 48-49, so the clinic said they were sending him home due to his heart rate and to contact his dr. and report it. I picked him up from school, called his dr., and the secretary told me to take him to the emergency room immediately because of his heart rate. I took him to the ER, they ran many tests, then I was told he was fine, nothing was wrong and the ER dr. informed me that his reported heartrate was normal for an active kid his age. We went home. Now Im receiving ER bills totaling so far close to $3000.00. Who is responsible for these bills? I feel I shouldnt have to pay.

You took your child to the ER, and you feel you shouldn't have to pay?? Of course it is your responsibility.

That's what insurance is for, to cover you if you incur a medical expense. You incurred the expense as well as the obligation to pay. It's too bad your doctor's secretary directed you to the ER rather than suggest you bring him to the clinic.Maybe at the clinic they could have come to the same conclusion for far less money.
