Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Okay, I applied for a "home job" I found on Atlanta Craig's List. They're supposed to send you a check, you cash it, then you send the money via Western Union to these "advertising" companies.I get the check. It looks fishy so I call the bank it was sent from.Real bank.So we ask about the name on the check it came from. They ask the amount.I tell them it's over $2,000.They immediately tell me that the company is real but that check is not.So I email these people and tell them that I am not going to cash it and do not want them contacting me anymore. The emailed me back:

We don't have time for your stupidity. You dont get it, you cannot quit now. This is not some kind of game, the job is real, the company is real and the money is real. We even specified when we hired you that a check left for first task to your name and address. You knew what this job involves, dont play stupid games, we are not kids, if you play, you will pay!!!Our lawyers will contact you soon if you don't remember ASAP what job you applied this week and what terms you accepted, you have 24 hours to process the payment like we agreed when will be delivered. Don't EVER think that long distance will protect you. We work closely with important law firms in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago and they will assist us every time we have a problem in United States. We expect that our job to be respected, if you still don't want to work for our company process the payments that are on the way right now and after that you are free. Otherwise we lose money, you are called in court and YOU pay for our loss. Tomorrow our lawyers will be alerted. This simple job that you refuse to finish will make you pay thousands in court, dont worry, we had another case few months ago and we won.

On one hand it frightenes me that these are really bad people and they are threatening me physically in a round about wy.On the other hand, if they are threatening me in a legal way, can they technically do anything if I just send the check back to them?I didn't sign anything. All they did is ask for my email address and mailing address and name.I don't recall them asking me if I agreed to the terms;unless my replying to give them my information was their so-called "agreement".
