Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Approximately $10,000 of jewelry was stolen from my home. The thief was a 18 year old male who sold the jewelry to a gold and silver dealer for $500. The thief has been arrested and charged with a felony. However, the dealer disposed of our jewelry and it is unrecoverable. Should I seek legal remedy against the gold & silver dealer and do they have a legal liability?

Unless the dealer violated any laws, your suit would probably be against the thief, not the dealer.
