Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia
Asset Protection
My 16 yr old daughter was a party to an aggrevated assault. 14 others were involved also. She has been tried & sentenced. The injured boys parents have indicated they will file a civil law suit to seek medical expense restitution.
Could the suit be filed against her parents or just her?
What can I do to protect our assets, or is it too late since the crime occured before I was able to protect our assets?

Re: Asset Protection
There is a specific law that holds parents liable for up to $10,000.00. You should consult with a local attorney.
Re: Asset Protection
The answer depends on the facts of the situation, but it sounds unlikely that there would be parental liability. However, I would recommend speaking with an attorney to protect your interests.
