Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

ATV damage

My 11 year old son was invited to a b-day party and he was allowed to ride a 500cc 4 wheeler. He hit a tree with it. (he was not hurt, thank goodness) The owner's of the 4 wheeler want me to pay $500 for damages. Am I liable or are they because it happened on their property. I offered to pay half but they refused.

Re: ATV damage

You (and the child) are generally responsible for your child's actions, and of course that is not limited to incidents on your property. The circumstances of the child riding may be relevant (ie, was he "allowed," "encouraged," did it on his own, etc.), but we have nothing to go on there.
