Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia
Automobile Services not rendered
A mechanic towed my car and it stayed at his garage for 3 months until I told him he could fix it. I told him it was running hot.He told me it needed a water pump and timing belt. I let him fix it for $500 down and $200 balance upon services rendered. When I got it back it was still running hot and there was no warranty on the work done to my car. I filed a suit against him to get my money back. In his answer he said (basically) he told me it had a cracked head and that I said I didn't want that fixed. That I just wanted the car driveable. He never mentioned a storage fee in his answer. He called and offered to give me some of my money back and I told him I'd rather go to court. He called again and said that he wanted to resolve it by giving me $100 back. I told him I'd see him in court. He's gotten a lawyer. Do I need one? What are my chances of getting my money back?

Re: Automobile Services not rendered
It would be impossible to answer your questions in this format. If money is not an issue, I would always get an attorney. However, if you are on a budget and/or the case does not involve a lot of money, and you are in Magistrate court, you might be able to handle it yourself, but I would never recommend doing that.
