Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Car issues

I am buying a car through a buy her pay here dealer. I have only had said car for 7 months.I have never been late on a payment or anything. I have had the car repainted and replace the battery as well as an O2 sensor. The car was having problems . I took it to a mechanic who advised me to take it to the dealer to have it checked. Before being able to do that the car became completely undrivable. The dealer's service area says that the transmission blew and it will cost me $2500.00 to fix it. I think they should have to fix it. What are my legal options?

Re: Car issues

We do not know the terms of your agreement when you bought the car. Most sales like yours are "as is," which means you take the car as it is and the dealer provide no warranty at all. That is the risk one takes by buying a car under those terms.

Re: Car issues

If you bought it "As is" it means the dealer was warning you by selling it that way. In that case, the dealer has no obligation to repair.

If you bought or were given a warranty, repairs covered by the warranty would have to be done by the dealer or warranty company.
